Qualico Celebrates 75 Years of Building Better Cities in 2026

As a proud Qualico Company, we at StreetSide are excited to celebrate alongside our parent organization for Qualico’s 75th anniversary of Building Better Cities this year. What began as a small company and the construction of six homes in Winnipeg has grown into one of Canada’s most successful integrated real estate companies, and we couldn’t be happier to play a part in that success. 75 years in business is no small feat, especially given the volatility of an ever-changing market, which even further shows how this achievement demonstrates the strength, resilience, and shared purpose that defines Qualico.

While the StreetSide brand first launched in Alberta, we at StreetSide Winnipeg have been developing in the city for over 30 years. However, the legacy of the Qualico flagship brand extends back even further. Our founders, Dr. David Friesen and Katherine Friesen, had a vision for what Qualico could be, and that paired with their incredible work ethic and intuitive business savvy, laid the foundation for Qualico’s success since its inception in 1951.

Throughout 2026, we’ll take some time to honour the past 75 years, while also looking ahead to the future being built right now. See below for a few photos from the archive of Qualico in its early days!
