StreetSide's 2017 Holiday Shopping Guide

With the holiday season fast approaching, we say: skip the mall and shop small. Our District Condos are in the heart of the Exchange District, right at home among so many of the city's best local boutiques and makers' markets. Here, we share some of our best ideas for every person on your list - letting you get it all without visiting a single mall.

For the nature lovers: Generation Green’s new Main Street location (opening today!) has a vast array of natural products and gift ideas.

For the fam jam: You can buy just about every board game under the sun at Across the Board, providing great gift ideas when buying for a group of people (like a family), or just for something to do with your own family over the holidays!

For the littles: Get the best auntie/uncle award this year! West Coast Kids has practically everything those stylish littles could need, including the couldn’t-be-any-cuter new kids line from Lennard Taylor.

For the music lovers: Into the Music is a must, your one stop shop for records, cassettes, dvds and cds offering both a new and used selection.

For the hard-to-buy for: Presents don’t have to be physical gifts – we love the idea of gifting an experience, with our top picks being tickets to a show, play or ballet at Centennial Concert Hall/MTS/Burton Cummings.

For the creative: Sometimes the best gifts are the most simple and the most practical. From beautiful leather-bound notebooks, to typographic prints, to the perfect pen, Tiny Feast is full of great gift ideas, not to mention stocks the best wrapping paper in the city!

For the entire list: If you’re short on time or would prefer to get all your shopping done in one big bang, then we have two suggestions for you: Lucky Girl Pop-Up and The Forks. The Lucky Girl Pop-up boasts 50 different local vendors on 2 days (Dec 16/17) at Hut K gallery space on Princess. The Forks, of course, is home to so many great stops, including Coal & Canary's flagship store, the Forks Trading Co. and more., where you can pick up this year’s hot items - the new 'Common' toques & Forks 'established 6,000 years ago' tees.
